Types of Trips
Destined Traveler offers two kinds of Thailand experience. First, we have a short term trip available lasting from 1-3 weeks. In this scenario a group (typically a church) will contact us, schedule a trip sometime throughout the year, and we will tailor it to their needs/desires. Trip elements can include: construction/orphanage vbs/orphanage grounds maintenance/Chiang Mai city tour/Northern village tour/Elephant Camp/Monkey Sanctuary/white water rafting/border discipleship (discipling of Burmese and Chinese pastors), and encouraging missionaries. Each short-term trip will be built around the desires of that group.
The second kind of trip we offer is for college-aged individuals and lasts from two to three months. These trips include all of the features of a short-term trip but have a heavy emphasis on discipleship. They will travel more of the country, actively participate in various ministry opportunities, and engage in one-on-one discipleship with Matt and his wife Laura. They will have the space to spend time developing their spiritual walks with Christ through study and practicing the spiritual disciplines, will be stretched as they develop leadership skills, and will be able to evaluate themselves and their futures. The mentorship program is an excellent choice for a student who has a heart for God and for the world, and who is looking for a life-changing experience sometime after highschool graduation. Our first mentorship team is tentatively planned for September through November, 2010. It is designed for young adults ages 18 – 24, and it will require an interview process.
